Caring for your Jewellery

As typical with works made from real preserved flowers and botanicals, you can expect that over time the colours will gently fade as the bloom’s natural pigment reacts to UV exposure.  To help maintain the vibrancy of each bloom, a UV resistant component is applied as part of its preservation. Nevertheless, this natural change is dependent on type of bloom or botanical, and how you care for the piece can help to minimise this.

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your botanical piece the following simple care instructions are recommended:

To ensure that your delicate piece is not accidentally damaged, handle with care and do not wear during activities that risk the piece being damaged such as exercising, swimming, or sleeping.

When you are not wearing your piece, please store in its box with the lid on. By doing so this will avoid long periods of exposure to sunlight which may quicken fading overtime. It will also protect from surface scratches caused by other items of jewellery.

If you wish to clean your jewellery, gently wipe the bloom with a soft, lint free cloth such as microfibre. This will prevent dust gathering and it can also maintain the shine of sterling silver.

Avoid contact with chemicals such as household cleaners and chlorine to prevent discolouration or damage. It is advised that cosmetics and scents are applied before putting on your jewellery.

Avoid exposure to water to protect the preservation of the flower. Please be mindful that water can potentially increase tarnishing on sterling silver components.

It is recommended you store your jewellery away from heat sources such as radiators or windowsills, or particularly humid environments such as bathrooms. This lessens the effects of tarnishing on sterling silver components.

To clean tarnished silver, use a soft cloth or a silver polishing cloth to gently buff away any tarnish. For a deeper clean of the chain, remove your pendant, and then wipe with a mild silver cleaner or a homemade mixture of baking soda and water. The natural oils on your skin can help prevent tarnish, so wearing your silver jewellery regularly can also help to keep it looking bright.
